Natural Cordage can be made from the inner bark (bast) it can be peeled and twisted into light-duty cord or bindings, especially from young shoots in spring.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Hazel bark peels most easily in late spring and early summer when the sap is rising. Never ring-bark a living hazel tree, as removing bark all the way around the stem will kill it. Instead, harvest bark only from freshly coppiced poles, naturally fallen branches, or with the landowner's permission.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
